Americans are finding creative ways around crippling
regulations that set a high bar to small business start ups, raise prices by limiting suppliers, and intrude on personal freedom — even kids’ lemonade stands are being regulated! Public “safety,” regulations are mostly excuses for fat bureaucratic budgets and mega-monopoly cronyism (as in the recent egg, meat, produce, GMO debacles from corporate producers favored by the FDA.) Freedom of choice by consumers and independent producers is under siege. Here is how one group of consumers is taking direct action to regain marketplace choices and opportunities; this needs to happen in cities all across America. Then the big job: firing politicians and bureaucrats whose regulations criminalize productive, innovative solutions that can rebuild jobs, better nutrition, opportunities, and freedom.

August 24th, 20102081: a movie for our time
February 1st, 2010
A short film adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut’s Harrison Bergeron, 2081 is a tale of dystopian America; thanks to the 212th Amendment to the Constitution and the zealous “handicapper” czar, everyone is “finally equal.” The strong wear weights, the beautiful wear masks, and the intelligent wear noisy ear pieces that eliminate the unfair advantage of their brains . Beautifully filmed, with an original score by the world-renowned Kronos Quartet, it is a courageous act of defiance, triumph, and tragedy. peacefreedom
December 3rd, 2009Peace and freedom work together, but because most people think they can be divided — government aggression into private lives is accepted — we fail to secure either. If we say we love liberty but impose restrictions on peaceful behavior, we inevitably support tyranny. The longer we accept and support these fundamental contradictions, the more government will resort to intrusions on both peace and liberty.
ChooseWings is non-partisan because most political parties advocate gross violations of peace and freedom. CW articles examine the trend toward tyranny, and explore personal approaches to peace and freedom.
The classic peace symbol is used everywhere with little understanding or conviction, by advocates of force or simply as a trendy decoration.
So I made this symbol of peacefreedom. It’s in a raw, working stage, and I’m hoping readers here will help make it better.
UPDATE: My sketch was posted on another site: it received a lot of comments, and I got a quick education on the origin of the peace symbol. The person said to design it later regretted its energy is directed downward. One peace organization uses the symbol pointing up. So, back to the drawing board. I’ll research and think about it further and post when I revise the sketch.
Gandhi, the peaceful warrior who defeated an empire
November 3rd, 2009
Mahatma Gandhi
As both Democrat and Republican administrations wage war and financial elitism, more and more people despair of the political process. The early Republic’s promise of freedom from tyranny was betrayed by militarism, corruption, and tyranny.
The federal government controls every aspect of our lives; our civil liberties are fading. We’re ignored when we protest bailouts and stimulus to financial cronies and special interests. Both Bush and Obama campaigned as relative “peace” candidates, and both increased the wars. » Read more: Gandhi, the peaceful warrior who defeated an empire
