Independence Day celebrants remember the rockets, but many forget the point of it all. I’m re-posting a video that all Americans should have viewed in history studies. For the majority who missed it: http://choosewings.com/?p=79

No end in sight, Bush morphs into Obama, dead soldiers on a conveyor belt, collateral damage incalculable.
Communities can save the US
April 12th, 2010Many Choosewings articles feature local action to help stop destructive government policies. Here’s one town that’s challenging the devastating cost of aggressive US wars:
Matt Ryan, the mayor of Binghamton, New York, is sick and tired of watching people in local communities “squabble over crumbs,” as he puts it, while so much local money pours into the Pentagon’s coffers and into America’s wars. He’s so sick and tired of it that, urged on by local residents, he’s decided to do something about it. He’s planning to be the first mayor in the United States to decorate the facade of City Hall with a large, digital “cost of war” counter, funded entirely by private contributions. Why we fight
September 19th, 2009The video below asks, why does America fight — war after war, administration after administration? Have we lost all perspective? Do we have the courage any longer to ask: are we the good guys or are we the bad guys?
If the new president — elected to lead us out of war — instead leads us even farther along the same path, what are responsible Americans going to do about it? One note of hope is that more and more citizens now identify themselves as Independents rather than as Republicans or Democrats. It may be a sign that they realize there’s not much difference between the two parties. It may show that people are beginning to think for themselves.
U.S. Government Shame: Global Weapons Pusher
September 9th, 2009
The New York Times reports that a new Congressional study shows US global weapons sales last year — against lower sales by all other nations in this time of recession — grew 68.4% — up from $25.4 billion to $37.8 billion.
This official report reveals the shameful fact that congress, the administration, and the military have made the United States of America the leading source of mayhem, violence, toxic pollution, and destruction of human, animal, and verdant life on this earth. Americans tried voting out the war hawks, and bought into promises of “change” by the Democrats. But expansion of the wars since the new president took office, plus bailouts for bankers and big business — by both Republicans and Democrats — show that the system must be changed, to unburden America from robbers and wars.
The sheer size and funding of the US bureaucracy, plus control of all money through the Federal Reserve System, gives the US government unlimited power; it will continue debt spending and wars unless we stop it.
To regrow a moral, economically sound country, the federal government must b
e downsized; citizens can watchdog and participate in decisions best at state or local levels. Don’t be fooled again by sweet promises that expanded federal programs will being us goodies. It’s a lie. The government is good at taking money from the people, not returning real value. Every federal program loses money, and every year the costs go up, regulation increases, while civil rights go down.
As a result of the economic crash and bailouts, Americans are waking up. Militarism is the end result of all empires. Citizens must take responsibility by voting against every increase of government power, and voting out every politician who feeds the Empire.
